What makes us different?
Choosing where you train as a GP is one of the biggest career decisions you are likely to make. Not only must your programme offer you the best possible opportunities to learn and develop but your surroundings must make you happy.
GPs who train in the Northern Deanery get much more than just high quality training. In addition to our first class exam preparation, excellent clinical and academic supervision and the breadth of experience offered by our trainers, we can give you lots of personal support. You can be reassured that whatever you come up against as a GP trainee here you can rely on us for help. Part of this support includes an extensive mentoring support network and an expert career advice service.
We have one of the most extensive taught courses of all deaneries and release for exam preparation where we tailor your training to your individual needs and your rate of progress.
What makes us different is our unique geography: the most rural counties in England sit side by sit with some of the most cosmpolitan cities in England. Our training programmes offer opportunities to experience both. They will also encourage you to discover the correct work/life balance for you.
There are also a number of opportunities to apply for an academic post (with a six month extension to your training programme). This involves undertaking supervised research relevant to general practice, and allows you to experience what a career as an academic GP is like – with the potential to contribute to the body of knowledge and improve general practice.
We also have an excellent track record in responding to trainee requests for flexible training and time out of the programme.
