Welcome to the Northern Deanery Foundation School

Finally becoming a doctor is an incredibly important day in your life. However, starting work as a doctor is even more important as you put everything you have learnt into practice. All of us worry; most of us learn on the job and it can be a very anxious time! In my day, we used to support each other informally in the mess when on-call. We soon found out that it was the same for all of us and we learnt together.

Your role and function as a doctor changes and needs to change with time but it’s the bit between me and the patient that still makes everything else I do worthwhile. Here in the North East and Cumbria, we are committed to providing the very best care we can for our patients. This goes hand in hand with training our doctors of today and tomorrow.
