What is an academic clinical lecturer?

The academic clinical lecturer programmes are aimed at specialty specific trainees who have completed a higher degree to enable them to complete specialist clinical training whilst also facilitating development of a post-doctoral research career.

The posts combine 50% research and 50% clinical training and will allow individuals to develop their own research group.  The hope is that they will also lead to an application for a senior fellowship.

Further information is available on the Newcastle University website where there are academic clinical lecturer programmes in a number of specialties.
