Our northern regional training programme allows you to meet and work with scientists working at the very forefront of research. Newcastle University is one of the highest rated in the UK.

We have clinical academic training opportunities at several levels. Our academic foundation programme is unique in having one third of the two year programme dedicated to research. Our academic clinical fellowship programme has one of the highest success rates in the country for securing external PhD training fellowships and we also have a good track record of our academic clinical lecturers being appointed to senior academic positions. These successes are heavily influenced by our commitment to personal development and mentoring and through our single joint committee between Newcastle Medical School which oversees the quality and future direction of our programmes.

Our programme is extremely supportive, with dedicated staff who you will get to know very well. There is a network of academic trainees at all levels of training which means that when you come to the northern region – you become part of a family!
